Gas Ducted vs Dominator Series 2
The right choice depends on whether you are staying on gas, switching to all-electric, or starting fresh on a new build.
Stay on gas, Braemar Gas Ducted.
Like-for-like replacement of an existing gas ducted heater, uses your existing ductwork and gas connection, lowest install disruption. Indoor or outdoor configurations. Natural gas or LPG. 5-star energy ratings on the THM and TH series. Compatible with zoning and with Braemar ducted add-on cooling. Note: gas-to-gas replacements do not qualify for Victorian Energy Upgrades rebates.
Switch to all-electric, Dominator Series 2.
Reverse cycle (heating AND cooling) from one system. Drops into the footprint of the existing gas ducted heater where the ductwork allows. R32 refrigerant. Operating range from minus 15 to plus 52 degrees ambient. Capacities up to 20kW heating and 12.2kW cooling on the flagship KGHV200A1S. Opens the Victorian Energy Upgrades rebate path on qualifying gas-to-electric jobs.

Braemar Gas Ducted Heating, In Plain Words
A central gas heater (natural gas or LPG) sits inside the roof, under the floor, or outside the house, and pushes warm air through insulated ducts to outlets in each room, with a return air grille pulling cold air back through the system. Three series cover the residential range.
THM Series — premium 5-star gas ducted.
The flagship range. 5-star energy efficiency. Modulating burner technology on selected models for quieter operation and finer temperature control across the day rather than cycling hard on and off. Capacities sized for small townhouses through to large family homes. Indoor and outdoor configurations available.
TH Series — workhorse 5-star gas ducted.
The mainstay range. Same Australian build, same Seeley engineering, tuned for the most common Victorian home sizes. Indoor and outdoor configurations available.
TQM Series — compact gas ducted.
The compact option for tighter installs and smaller homes where a full THM or TH does not fit. Same Braemar engineering in a smaller envelope.
All three series run natural gas or LPG, with the correct gas conversion handled at commissioning. The right capacity (in kW) depends on the home’s size, insulation, orientation, glazing, ceiling height, and how many zones you want to run independently. We size the system on the in-home walk, not from a price list.
Braemar Dominator Series 2, In Plain Words
The all-electric replacement system. Reverse cycle (heating and cooling), R32, designed to drop into the same ducted footprint as an existing gas ducted heater where the ductwork is in reasonable condition and was sized for the original heater.
Capacity. Up to 20kW heating and 12.2kW cooling on the flagship KGHV200A1S size, with smaller sizes down the range to suit smaller homes.
Operating range. Minus 15 to plus 52 degrees ambient. Melbourne winters do not get anywhere near the bottom of that range, so the system is never running at the edge of its envelope on a cold morning.
Ductwork. In most cases the existing gas ducted ductwork is reusable, provided it is in reasonable condition and was sized for the original heater. We confirm this with a measure at the in-home quote. Where the ducts need work, we cost that into the quote up front.
Rebate path. Replacing an existing gas ducted heater with the Dominator Series 2 is one of the cleanest Victorian Energy Upgrades rebate paths in the residential market. We will tell you up front whether your job qualifies and walk you through the rebate path through our third-party partner.
Warranty. Carries a 5-year comprehensive Seeley manufacturer warranty.
Zoning and Controls
How The Install Works
Free in-home quote and heat load calculation. We measure the home, check the existing ductwork if there is any, work out where the unit can sit (in-roof, under-floor, or outdoor for gas ducted; outdoor unit for Dominator Series 2), and confirm gas supply, flue path, return air, switchboard capacity, and zoning requirements.
Fixed quote with model and capacity locked in. You see the THM / TH / TQM model number (or the Dominator Series 2 size), the kW rating, the configuration, the number of zones, and the total price. No “from” pricing. If your job qualifies for a rebate, we will let you know up front and walk you through the path.
Removal of the old heater. Old gas heater is decommissioned safely, gas line is checked, and the existing ductwork is either reused (if in good condition) or replaced. Asbestos-era ductwork is handled per Victorian regulations.
Install and commissioning. New Braemar unit goes in, ducts and zones are connected, flue is run (gas ducted only), electrical is wired, and the MagIQtouch controller is mounted and paired. Gas pressures, flue draught, return air, refrigerant charge (Dominator Series 2), and zone balancing are all measured and tuned.
Handover. We walk you through the MagIQtouch controller, the zone setup, seasonal mode changes, the filter clean schedule, and the warranty card. You get the paperwork on the day and a digital copy by email.
Rebates
Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) is the main rebate pathway in Victoria, and it is designed to incentivise households moving off gas and onto efficient electric heating.
Gas-to-gas replacement (THM / TH / TQM replacing an old gas heater) does not qualify under VEU. That is the honest answer. Price the job on its own merits.
Gas-to-electric replacement (Dominator Series 2 replacing an old gas ducted heater) is one of the cleanest VEU paths in the residential market and is where the rebate conversation actually opens up.
Where the job qualifies, we work with a third-party rebate partner to lodge the claim, so the paperwork is not on you.
Warranty
Seeley manufacturer warranty. Braemar gas ducted heaters carry Seeley’s manufacturer warranty per the warranty card supplied with the unit, typically 5 years on the heat exchanger with shorter periods on other components. We hand you the current warranty card on install day and walk you through what is covered and for how long. The Dominator Series 2 carries a 5-year comprehensive Seeley manufacturer warranty. Because Savage Air is a Seeley CMSI participating dealer, both systems are installed to Seeley’s accredited install standard.
Savage Air lifetime workmanship guarantee. If anything we did with our hands ever fails, we fix it. That cover does not expire. Every install is signed off under our ARC refrigeration licence AU52122.
